Excellent blog, Stewie.

Pat Burns was always one of my favorite characters in a league that has never been short on character(s). He deserved better than to have passed before being inducted into the HOF.

I'm sure his family is rightfully proud and pleased, belated though the honor is.

Some of these electors who didn't seem fit to vote him while he was alive and 3 or so years later they change their mind is a crock of $hit. They have to make this voting public to make these a$$e$ accountable

Someone who didn't vote for his induction 3 or 4 years ago decided that now he is worthy. My point is that they do this vote in secrecy and no reasons are ever given on their choices. It just seems they could have honoured Burns while he was alive. Are you a voter that didn't think he was warranted then but now he is.

Maybe some voters changed and new ones came in with a different opinion. I think Burns belongs but I don't think anyone is owed hall of fame induction.

I also don't think anyone is owed, but I stand to be corrected but I think this is the same bunch of voters

Its like when a musician dies his record sales skyrocket. The music didn't change, people just bought into them once they died.

Its not a great comparison, but its the same point he was making. He was HoF worthy before he died, it shouldn't have taken his passing to get people to put him in.

Love the articles about the politics in the Hall of Fame. My dad, dealt with this in IHOA for 40 Years. He was the pioneer for youth hockey in IL along with Chet Stewart, Phil Lovecchio, Fred Pye, Jack Prost (who still is not in the Hall of Fame) and several others. He took Andy McCalman under his wing as a kid and told him that he was going to be in the NHL someday. He was also the Ref in Chief for Illinois for 8 years. When he finally retired, the IL Hall of Fame waited several years before his induction. They also put so many Refs and Builders in before him that did nothing for the growth of IL hockey.

It sucks but its ever place!!!

This is the best frickin hockey blog around!!!!!!!!!!!!
